Almi Apartment
(sleeps 5 people)

Apartment Location
The apartment is in the Esquilino-Colosseo area. It is located on the second floor of an early 20th century building with elevator. Many of Rome's fabulous sites are within easy walking distance. For longer excursions, the area is well served by public transportation: the train station, bus stop and subway station are conveniently close. A coffee shop is just across the street; stores, groceries and a nice market are around the corner. One place you shouldn't miss is the Palazzo del Freddo Giovanni Fassi, the oldest and best gelateria of Rome. Here you can see an antique ice cream making machine while enjoying their delicious flavors.

Local Area
In a few minutes you can walk to the beautiful church of Santa Maria Maggiore and Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II where you can admire the Trofei di Mario and the Porta Magica, a fascinating doorway believed to have alchemical powers. You can also visit Santa Croce in Gerusalemme and sip some water from the Fontanella Paolina, the only public fountain in Rome with Paola water, which is the water coming from the Acquedotto Traiano, serving the Vatican. The Colosseum is also easy to reach on foot and, if you like walking, you can get to the Forum and the Trevi Fountain as well. By bus you can explore the rest of Rome.

Owner Recommended Restaurants
For upscale dining, Agata e Romeo is your best choice; it is within walking distance. Make sure to reserve ahead. La Taverna degli Artisti is about half a mile away and offers good value Neapolitan food that you can enjoy with a nice view. There are four other restaurants on the same street as the apartment.

Day Trips
Rome has a lot to offer: you would still discover something new even after years of living in the Eternal City!
Plan one full day to visit the Vatican.
If you would like to spend a day at the beach, you can head to some of the popular Roman shores: Lido di Ostia, Fregene, S. Marinella, Civitavecchia (between 18 and 51 miles away).
The lake of Bracciano will also provide a change of scenery (about 45 miles).
In Tivoli you can visit Villa d'Este and Villa Gregoriana, with fabulous gardens and an impressive waterfall. Nearby there is also Villa Adriana, an exceptional archeological site of the largest and most splendid imperial Roman villa (about 26 miles).
Viterbo is also worth a visit, with its famous Palazzo dei Papi (about 71 miles).
