Villa del Rimedio
(sleeps up to 7 people, beautiful frescoes)
Villa Location
The villa used to be a hunting property. It is located just outside Fucecchio, a town between Empoli and Pisa, an ideal base for Tuscan explorations. A gravel, tree lined driveway leads along a farm to the villa. It is possible to walk to a tiny village (less than 2 miles away) where you can find a coffee shop and a grocery store.
Local Area
The town of Fucecchio has a lovely historical center and an interesting museum, Museo Civico. There is also a nature preserve, Padule, where you can take guided walks and observe local vegetation and animals. The small towns in the area offer many attractions off the beaten tourist path, and the owner will be happy to give you insiders directions to visit them. Vinci is the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci, while Collodi is popular for the Pinocchio children's tale. The medieval San Miniato was visited by many emperors, and Empoli, a larger center, boasts the Museo della Collegiata, rich in artworks from 1300 to 1600. Another interesting museum is the ceramics museum of Montelupo Fiorentino, where you can also shop for fine ceramics. If you need to relax after sightseeing, head off to the thermal baths at Monsummano or Montecatini.
Owner Recommended Restaurants
There are several good restaurants in the area. For Tuscan cuisine, try Le Vedute.
