Villa Location
Residenza Vistacolle was the manor house of a working wine estate, as well as a summer residence. It is surrounded by fields speckled with the original farmhouses, stables and workshops. A wine cellar and bakery still exist, although no longer in use. The road leading to the villa is paved and the property has an imposing entrance gate leading to the marvelous gravel driveway used exclusively by guests. The owners occasionally reside in a contiguous private part of the villa, which is totally independent and has a separate entrance.

Local Area
The villa is located in the Mugello, the hills and mountains northeast of Florence. The closest town is Vicchio, birthplace of the artists Giotto and Fra Angelico. You can visit Giotto's house, now a small museum, and the Museo Comunale with interesting pieces from the Middle Ages to late Renaissance. Scarperia, another town in the area, is well known for the production of knives and blades of excellent quality. If you are interested in local artifacts, you should stop at the Cestenoli factory for terracotta. A small lake nearby allows sailing, fishing and other activities. The Mugello is perfect for horseback riding, hiking and biking, as well as golfing.

For a typical atmosphere, try La Casa di Caccia, in the hills above Vicchio. If you are looking for high class cuisine and refined service, the restaurant Villa Campestri is the right choice.

Day Trips
	The Mugello area has a lot to offer with its tiny villages, markets, and nature paths.
	Florence is only 21 miles away.
	Lucca and San Gimignano can be reached in about a two hour drive.
	For sites of religious importance, you can visit the monastery of Camaldoli, one of the last eremitic monasteries, or La Verna, where Saint Francis received the stigmata (about 40 miles).
	Another highly recommended trip is to the beautiful city of Bologna, in Emilia Romagna (about 60 miles).
