Villa Location
Villa Serenita' is located just outside a small village very close to Lucca. The villa is surrounded by a picture perfect, meticulously maintaied garden. As an added bonus, the villa is within walking distance of a gelateria - an Italian ice cream store. The owner lives on the property in a separate villa and he is available if needed.
Local Area
Lucca is located about 5 km, or 3 miles, from the villa. You can easily explore Lucca either on foot or bike - the latter a preferred method of transportation for the locals. Lucca is entirely encircled by its famous Renaissance wall which offers magnificient views of the city. Visitors and locals take leisurely strolls, ride bikes or jog on top of the walls. The famous elliptical Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, built on the site of an original ancient Roman amphitheater, is a lively and bustling area of Lucca with many restaurants and cafes. The Guinigi Tower, one of the two towers located in Lucca, offers breathtaking views of the city. It is easily recognized by the large oak trees growing on top of the tower! There are also many churches to visit in Lucca, the Church of San Frediano being the most famous for its white stone and beautiful mosaic facade. While in Lucca, you can also visit the birthplace of Giacomo Puccini, the famous composer of Madame Butterfly, La Boheme and Tosca. On Wednesdays or Saturdays, make sure to visit the popular local market at Via dello Stadio. Among the closest towns are: Viareggio, Camaiore and Forte dei Marmi.
