If you are contemplating going to Rome for a few days or a week, we can highly recommend this Trastevere apartment as a wonderful place to stay. We stayed here during our 3 day stay in Rome this past autumn and our experience was wonderful.

The taxi that we took to bring us to our Roman home dropped us off a very short distance away as the streets in the immediate neighborhood are lovely, quaint cobblestoned streets that are too narrow for cars. We walked to the apartment and were greeted by the owners, Claudio and Stefania. They were warm and welcoming and gave us a tour of the apartment showing us how everything worked, pointing us to some very good and nearby restaurants and leaving us a map so that we knew how and where to set out each morning on our tours of Rome.

The apartment is lovely and immaculate and the owners left it well stocked with food and paper products. It is a place where we could have spent time enjoying and feeling at ‘home in Rome’ but, of course, being in Rome, we certainly did not want to stay indoors, as inviting as the apartment was, and took to the streets to see the sights.

Rome is a very walkable city and we are a couple who enjoys walking. There are sights that are nearby and there are sights that are further away. We walked to all of the places we visited enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of wonderful food along our way. We shall limit our journal on this site to some of the places that are nearby to the apartment. There are just so many things to see in Rome that we could not possibly list them all.

We think that the major sight within Trastevere (and basically in the apartment’s backyard) is Santa Maria in Trastevere, a beautiful church and one of the oldest in Rome. It has lovely mosaics throughout and the shimmering gold color can take your breath away.
