Good to Know

Time difference: Italy is 6 hours ahead of US EST. So, for example, when it is 9.00 am in New York City, it is 3.00 pm in Rome




Electrical adaptors: The voltage in Italy is 220 volts, while in the US it is 110 volts. Check if your electrical equipment needs a transformer or simply a plug adaptor. Plugs in Italy have two or three pin rounded prongs alligned.


Dress code for churches: When visiting churches or other religious sites, no tank tops are allowed, shoulders and belly should be covered. Skirts and shorts must be below the knee. This is considered a sign of respect for all sacred places. At some major cathedrals security guards will enforce this dress code strictly.
