Located on the outskirts of Rome, this “Park of Monsters” consists of enormous sculptures of mythological animals and fantasy creatures. Some sculptures are so large that people can walk through their mouths!



Florence

Children can search for where secret passages used to be an see where the Medici children used to play.


Boboli Gardens: Palazzo Pitti, Florence.
Cross the Ponte Vecchio and have a picnic lunch in the Boboli Gardens


Parco delle Cascine  Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Florence.
This is the largest public park in Florence. Activities include bike riding, rollerblading and jogging. There are public swimming pools for hot days. There is also a playground with swings and slides and picnic tables for your lunch. During the summer months there are also outdoor dance performances and concerts at the amphitheatre.

Leonardo da Vinci Museum  At the Museo Leonardiano – located in Vinci, (Leonardo's birthplace)
Children can learn about and see models of the various machines that Leonardo created to move in air, water and on land.


Prehistoric Park:  - In Peccioli.
Children can explore the Pre-historic park that includes over 20 detailed, real scale dinosaurs reproductions.

Siena

San Gimignano

Pisa

Reserve your tickets in advance to climb the Leaning Tower. The Tower is open in the evenings during the summer.



Lucca

Rent bikes or walk atop the Renaissance walls surrounding the center of Lucca.


Climb the Torre Guinigi - the tower with the holm-oak on top of it – for a spectacular view of Lucca.



Southern Tuscan Coast - Pescia Fiorentina – Capalbio

The Tarot Garden is a large sculpture garden based on the theme of tarot cards.



Venice

Take a gondola ride through the canals of Venice.


Piazza San Marco:  Take the elevator up the Campanile in front of St. Mark's Cathedral for spectacular views of the canals, rooftops of Venice and St. Mark's Square. Also spend time admiring the Torre dell'Orologio with it's winged lion and the bronze statue of the two Moors that strike the bell hourly. And don't forget to feed the pigeons!

This magnificent building is an interesting place for the children to explore. Be sure not to miss the Sale d'Armi, with it's medieval and renaissance armor and the Bridge of Sighs, which leads to the prison cells and torture chambers.

This is a great museum filled with colorful modern art is great for children.


Rialto Bridge:  The Rialto Bridge is one of the most famous bridges in the world and one of the three that crosses the Grand Canal. Be sure to visit the great outdoor markets where you can purchase fresh fish, fruit and vegetables.


Mask Making Studios:  Visit the studios to see how the masks worn at the Carnevale are made. There are many studio but here are some to visit:

This is one of the oldest glassblowing factories in Murano.



Amalfi Coast

Pompeii and Herculaneum:  Visit the excavations of the buried city of Pompeii and the destroyed city of Herculaneum.


Capri:  Take a boat trip to Capri and the Blue Grotto.
