Villa Veneto
(sleeps 8 to 14 people, pool)
Villa Location
The villa is located in a small village close to Bassano del Grappa, northeast of Verona. The property is gated and has a magnificent garden. The owners also live on the premises, in a wing of the villa with separate access.
Local Area
Two grocery stores, a bakery, and a hairdresser are within walking distance from the villa. You can take a walk to the Palladian villa Barbaro and admire the beautiful frescos by Paolo Veronese. Near the villa there is also an interesting museum of carriages. A short hike will take you to Asolo, a nice medieval village where a noble Venetian woman held a court of poets and humanists in 1473. Robert Browning, Henry James, Hemingway, and the actress Eleonora Duse (who is buried here) also sojourned here. You can stroll around, visit the duomo, rocca and civic museum. A golf club is 6 miles from the villa. The closest towns are Castelfranco, Bassano and Treviso. From Crespignaga you can take busses to get to these locations.
Owner Recommended Restaurant
Le Sorelle for regional cuisine; La Trave for good fish; for an exceptional onion and salame omelette, go to Osteria dell'Arme.
